Continuing Care (CCtact)

Description
[This course will take you about 1 hr 10 mins to complete.]

*Note - this course refers to a type of arrangement only available in Scotland. The equivalent is 'Staying Put' in England, and 'When I'm Ready' in Wales. You will find the relevant courses in the course catalogue.

Continuing Care was introduced by the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014. It is an arrangement whereby a child can remain with their current carer(s) (kinship or foster) once the child ceases to be looked after. This can be as early as age 16 and until the age of 21. This can be a good option for providing continuity and support, as the care leaver progresses towards becoming an independent adult.

In this course, you will learn:
- How a Continuing Care arrangement works
- How it might benefit cared-experienced children
- What to expect, and questions to ask yourself when considering offering a ‘Continuing care’ placement.
