Compassion fatigue (CFtact)

Description
[This course will take you approximately 1h to complete.]

Compassion fatigue is something that can happen to anyone, it’s when you become exhausted and unable to engage with and support someone you care for. As a foster carer, you are caring for your foster child- physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually 24/7. Sometimes you simply have nothing left to give. You are experiencing compassion fatigue. If you don’t take care of yourself, it can even lead to burnout and needing to take a break from fostering. It is important to understand compassion fatigue because it not only affects you but potentially the children in your care and the wider fostering community.

The goal of this course is for you to learn about compassion fatigue and:
- What it is and the impact it can have on yourself and the children in your care.
- What happens if you have compassion fatigue.
- How to prevent it with practical tools.
