Tact Training → General Fostering

Moving, Lifting and Handling (LIFTtact)

Description
[This course will take you about 1hr to complete.]

Moving and lifting things are everyday tasks that are often taken for granted, but when done incorrectly can lead to serious injuries. As a foster carer, you may be wondering why this course is relevant to you. Not only do you lift and move items such as shopping and toys, but you may also have to lift and carry children from time to time, especially if you are caring for a young child . Therefore, it is essential that you are aware of the correct safety procedures when moving and lifting objects and people.

In this course, you will learn:
- the importance of proper moving and handling
- how to conduct a risk assessment using the TILE method
- how to correctly move, lift and handle objects or children

Note - while this course briefly touches upon equipment used to carry or move children with hindered mobility, this is not the primary topic of this course and will not qualify you to use this specialised equipment.
