Therapeutic parenting with PACE (PACEtact)

Description
[This course will take you about 1h 15 min to complete.]

Therapeutic parenting is a style of parenting that focuses on healing past trauma and making the child feel safe. It can be particularly effective with children who have difficulties building attachments with their caregivers, as can be the case for many children in care.
One of the ways to apply therapeutic parenting is through the PACE method. PACE is a method where caregivers provide children with a supportive structure that allows the child to properly understand, express and manage their emotions. It is designed to overcome the trauma caused by adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and difficulties forming attachments. By using PACE, caregivers are applying therapeutic parenting and helping traumatised children have healthier ways to express their emotions and control their behaviours.

In this course, you will learn:
- What therapeutic parenting is and how it applies to fostering
- Which children benefit the most
- What effects PACE can have on traumatic ACEs & attachment issues
- How to use PACE in daily life
