Positive Parenting (PPtact)

Description
[This course will take you about 1 hour 15 mins to complete.]

This course will introduce you to the idea of positive parenting. This is a technique that is mutually beneficial to carers and children, as it is based on empathy and focusing on strengths, rather than weaknesses.
Although the idea of being positive may sound very obvious, it isn't always easy to put into practice, especially when children behave in ways that are challenging. For many of us, the technique requires us to rethink the way we respond to things, to retrain our brains in a way. This course will talk you through the main ideas behind the technique, and give practical advice on how you can use them.
Essentially, Positive Parenting is about creating a 'yes' environment. However, that doesn't mean that it is an environment without boundaries. Far from it. This course will demonstrate the ways in which being a Positive Carer treads the line between authoritarian parenting and permissive parenting, finding a balance that works for everyone.

In this course, you will learn:
- What positive parenting is.
- Why children misbehave.
- How to set boundaries.
- How to create a "yes" environment.
- How to respond to challenging situations in a calm way.
