Preparing to welcome a foster child (PREPtact)

As a foster carer, there are a number of things to do in preparation for welcoming a foster child into your home. First, you will need to assess if you are a good fit for each other. Then, you need to ready your home and family. Finding out as much as you can about the child will help you to build a strong connection in the early days. You play a key role in making this transition period as comfortable and safe as possible for the child.

In this course, you will learn:
- What information and questions to consider before agreeing to a referral
- The relevant meetings, plans and policies that need to be considered and put in place
- Things to organise, get and research to best prepare your home and family
- Ways to help make the child feel safe and nurtured in your home
